Disclosures
Transparency about what NimboX is, what it isn't, our regulatory structure, conflicts of interest, and the limits of what we can promise. If you only read one page on the site, read this one.
1. What NimboX is — and is not
NimboX is a consumer software platform that aggregates global weather forecast data and surfaces relevant CFTC-regulated event contracts. We are an information and discovery layer — not an exchange, not a broker-dealer, not a registered investment adviser, not a sportsbook.
- We do not list, match, or clear trades
- We do not custody customer funds or positions
- We do not solicit deposits or accept wagers
- We do not provide personalized investment advice
- We do not guarantee outcomes, forecasts, or scores
2. Regulatory structure
Event contract trading via NimboX is routed to third-party CFTC-regulated Designated Contract Markets (DCMs). At launch, our partner is Kalshi (KalshiEX LLC), a CFTC-regulated DCM. NimboX participates as an affiliate or Introducing Broker (IB) — relationships will be disclosed when finalized.
Regulatory oversight of partner exchanges is provided by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The CFTC has confirmed that event contracts on regulated DCMs are derivatives, not gambling, and preempt state law. Partner exchanges may not be available in all jurisdictions; eligibility is determined at the exchange level.
3. Risk warnings
⚠ Trading event contracts involves risk
Event contract trading on partner exchanges involves substantial risk of loss. You can lose all of your initial position. Weather is inherently uncertain. Forecasts are subject to revision. Markets can move rapidly against your position. Liquidity may be limited in some markets. Do not trade with funds you cannot afford to lose. Consider event-contract trading as part of a broader risk-management strategy aligned with your financial situation, only after consulting independent financial advice if appropriate.
4. Conflicts of interest
NimboX has revenue relationships that may create conflicts of interest. We disclose them here so you can evaluate our information accordingly:
- Affiliate revenue. We may earn affiliate commissions or IB rebates on user trading volume routed to partner exchanges. This creates an incentive for us to encourage trading. Mitigated by: (a) our editorial language never urges specific trades, (b) we present hedging as risk management not speculation, (c) Nimbo Scores methodology is independent of affiliate volume.
- Subscription revenue. Premium subscribers fund the platform regardless of whether they trade. This aligns our incentives with sustained user value rather than transaction churn.
- Data licensing revenue. Travel insurance carriers, OTAs, and resort operators may license Nimbo Scores data and the Nimbo Score badge. Destinations cannot pay to improve their score. Methodology is published; algorithm is auditable.
- Advertising revenue. We may sell advertising inventory on the platform to relevant brands. Advertising never influences forecast data, market display, or Nimbo Score calculation.
- Future proprietary trading. NimboX Labs may, at a future date, operate a proprietary trading desk through a separate legal entity with information barriers. This is not currently active and would require: (a) separate entity formation, (b) qualified senior compliance counsel, (c) information barriers, (d) disclosure to all users prior to activation. Not before Year 3.
5. Methodology transparency
Nimbo Scores are produced from public data sources and a published algorithm. Inputs include:
- 10-year climatological baseline via NOAA NCEI Climate Data Online and Open-Meteo aggregations
- Three independent forecast models: NOAA GFS, ECMWF HRES, DWD ICON
- Ensemble disagreement scoring measures forecast confidence
- Activity-specific thresholds for what "good conditions" means per category
- Recency weighting for SST anomalies, ENSO state, and current-season deviation
The scoring algorithm is reviewed annually by the NimboX Methodology Council, an independent body of meteorologists, climate scientists, and data scientists. The methodology white paper publishes Q3 2026 alongside the first public scoring cycle.
6. Forecast limitations
All forecasts are probabilistic estimates subject to inherent uncertainty. Forecast skill decreases with longer time horizons. Localized phenomena (microclimates, terrain effects, sudden weather events) may not be fully captured by global models. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Nimbo Scores measure historical and projected reliability — they do not predict outcomes for any specific year.
7. Geographic limitations
Trading on partner exchanges is subject to U.S. state-level eligibility rules. Some states restrict or prohibit event contract trading. You are responsible for determining your own eligibility. NimboX does not provide guidance on jurisdiction-specific eligibility — refer to the partner exchange's eligibility tools.
8. Forward-looking statements
The site contains forward-looking statements about NimboX's plans, growth targets, and revenue projections (visible particularly on the Investors and Cockpit pages). These statements reflect current expectations and are subject to risks, uncertainties, and assumptions. Actual results may differ materially. No statement on this site constitutes an offer to sell or solicitation of an offer to buy securities.
