Build the consumer hedging layer for weather.

Weather is the largest un-hedged consumer cost in active travel and the largest un-monetized data category in consumer media. We're building the platform that fixes both. Solo founder today; small team this year. Here's what's open and what's coming.

Where we are

The honest picture

NimboX is pre-launch as of Q1 2026. One founder, no employees, no funding. Currently in private beta with the public launch coming in Q2. We're not in panic-hire mode — we're recording open roles transparently, accepting unsolicited intros, and timing actual recruiting to capital and traction milestones.

If you're reading this and you're not currently looking for a role, that's fine. Bookmark the page. We'll publish quarterly hiring updates alongside the investor reports. If something matches your trajectory in 12 or 24 months, you'll know first.

If you're reading this and you're excited by what we're building — even if there's no exact role match — use the introduce-yourself form at the bottom. We read every one.

How we work

What you should know about the team

Remote-first, time-zone-light

Work from wherever. We optimize for written async over meetings. Most syncs are scheduled, not constant. If you live in PT–ET–CET overlap, that's helpful. Outside that, we'll make it work.

Transparent compensation

Salary bands posted on every role. No haggling — the band is the band. Significant equity for early hires (top of market for stage). We publish the cap table dilution from each grant in our quarterly investor reports.

Build in public

You'll be on the record. Your work — the products you ship, the markets you build, the bugs you fix — gets posted in the quarterly investor letters with your name on it (if you want). This is good for your career and good for the company.

No bullshit forecasting

We tell traders the honest reality: most retail prediction-market traders lose money. We tell candidates the same kind of truth: most early-stage startups fail. We won't sell you a fantasy. The job is hard, the bet is real, and the upside is genuine.

Open roles

What we're hiring for now

Surf, ski, and kite content writers
Contract · 10-20 hrs/wk Remote

We're commissioning destination guides, weather pattern explainers, and editorial coverage of upcoming swell and powder windows. One writer per vertical; this is a paid side gig for someone deeply embedded in their sport.

You probably:

  • Write for an existing surf, ski, or kite publication or run your own newsletter / Substack with engaged readers
  • Have credible domain knowledge — you can tell a Hokkaido low-pressure pattern from a Mediterranean Tramontana
  • Want $30-60/hr to write 1-2 pieces a week about places you'd be reading about anyway

Compensation: $30-60/hr depending on experience. Per-piece rates available. Author bylines and verified-meteorologist badges (if applicable) on the platform.

Founding engineer
Coming Q3 2026 Remote

When NimboX hits ~$10K MRR, we'll bring on the first full-time engineer — a senior generalist who can own the product platform, build the second exchange integration (Polymarket), and architect the data infrastructure that becomes Layer 4 (data licensing).

You probably:

  • Have shipped consumer products at meaningful scale (Series A through C)
  • Have either fintech or marketplace experience, ideally both
  • Are excited about prediction markets specifically, not just looking for any job
  • Want significant equity at the founding level

Compensation: $160-220K base + 1-3% equity. Bookmark and apply when role opens; introduce yourself now if you'd be interested.

Head of business development · ad and partnership revenue
Year 2 · ~$1M ARR

Owns Layer 3 (advertising) and Layer 4 (data and brand licensing). Sells curated direct sponsorships to gear brands, resorts, travel insurance carriers, and aviation operators. Negotiates the first data-licensing deals with travel-insurance carriers and OTAs.

Quantitative weather researcher
Year 3+ · gated by Layer 5

If and when NimboX pursues Layer 5 (proprietary risk-taking on identified market mispricings) — a quantitative weather researcher would lead the research side. PhD-level atmospheric science meets prediction-market microstructure.

Best fit: PhD in atmospheric science, climatology, or applied math, with experience in commodities trading, energy, or insurance-linked securities. We're not opening this until specific persistent alpha is identified, separate regulatory entity is formed, and risk capital is raised — but if this is your background, we want to know you exist.

Founding designer
Year 1-2 · part-time

Owns the visual brand as NimboX expands beyond active travel into festivals, aviation, sailing, golf, beach, and eventually agriculture and energy. Custom illustration system, logo refinement, marketing site beyond the founder MVP.

Best fit: Ex-Airbnb / ex-Stripe / ex-Linear designer who freelances. Bonnie Kate Wolf school of warm illustrated icons.

Compliance lead
Year 2+

CFTC and state-regulatory expertise. Owns ongoing compliance as we scale, manages exchange partner relationships, prepares the regulatory architecture for Layer 5 if/when pursued.

Best fit: Former CFTC, prediction-market exchange, or derivatives-focused legal/compliance officer. Comfortable with the difference between event contracts and gambling under state law.
